Zakopane
Zakopane is a town in southern Poland, with a population of around 27,000 inhabitants. It is located at the foot of the Tatra Mountains and is often referred to as the “Winter Capital of Poland.”
Zakopane is one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations, known for its stunning mountain scenery, skiing resorts, hiking trails, and distinctive wooden architecture in the Zakopane Style. The town also hosts numerous cultural and sporting events, including ski jumping competitions at the Wielka Krokiew hill.
Although Zakopane does not have its own airport, it is accessible via Kraków Airport (John Paul II International Airport), located about 110 kilometres to the north. The town is connected to Kraków and other major cities by road and rail, making it a convenient base for exploring the Tatra region and enjoying outdoor activities year-round.
