Sopot and Gdynia (Tricity)
Sopot is a city in northern Poland, with a population of around 35,000 inhabitants. It is part of the Tricity metropolitan area, together with Gdańsk and Gdynia, and is one of the country’s most popular seaside resorts.
Known for its long sandy beaches, historic wooden pier (the longest in Europe), and vibrant cultural scene, Sopot is a major tourist destination on the Baltic coast. The city also hosts international festivals and events, including the famous Sopot Music Festival.
Gdynia is a city in northern Poland, with a population of around 240,000 inhabitants. It forms part of the Tricity metropolitan area, alongside Gdańsk and Sopot, and is one of the country’s key seaports on the Baltic Sea.
Gdynia is known for its modernist architecture, vibrant maritime economy, and cultural events such as the Gdynia Film Festival. It is an important economic hub, particularly in the fields of shipping, logistics, and naval industry, and also serves as a base for the Polish Navy.
While Sopot and Gdynia do not have a commercial airport of its own, they are well connected to Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport, located approximately 20-25 kilometres away, which provides access to a wide range of domestic and international flights. Both cities are also well served by regional and long-distance rail connections.
